The Metlakatla Development Corporation has developed an Education, Training and
Employment Strategy
 to prepare and support members in their wellness, education, and
employment readiness in order to move into job and career opportunities in and around
Metlakatla and Prince Rupert.

This strategy includes the implementation of an Employment Database for Metlakatla
members. So what does this mean for Metlakatla members? How will the database help

Notice to Metlakatla Band Members:  There has recently been an increase in biotoxin contamination found in Metlakatla's clam/cockle beaches.

Metlakatla Stewardship Society will be having a meeting with an update on the Aurora LNG Environmental Assessment on Digby Island. There will also be a meal, presentation, and a question and answer period for either the Aurora or Metlakatla Stewardship Staff. 

The meeting is on Thursday, November 24, 2016.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Metlakatla Development Corporation ill be held at the Metlakatla Community Hall in Metlakatla, B.C. at 9:30 a.m. on November 16, 2016.

All Metlakatla Band members over the age of nineteen are invited to attend. Metlakatla Development Corporation directors and all subsidiary company employees are also invited to attend.

Items of Business:

1. To report on the business activities of the last year.

2. To receive and consider the Annual Financial Statements for the year ending March 31, 2016.

For the first time, and based on feedback from previous community meetings, the Metlakatla Land Management Advisory Committee will be live broadcasting its next membership meeting, scheduled for Tuesday October 4 in the Metlakatla Room at the Highliner Plaza Hotel in Prince Rupert, online.

Under agreement with the Metlakatla Band Council, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is opening portions of Area 4 for food, social and ceremonial harvesting of cockles (Clinocardium nuttallii) and Butter Clams (Saxidomus igantea) for the Metlakatla First Nation only. Recent acceptable biotoxin monitoring results permit this opening.
