Lands Managment Advisory Committee

    Braden Etzerza

My name is Braden Etzerza and I was born in the city of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. My ancestors come from the communities of Metlakatla and Dease Lake. Currently I am entering my final year of Environmental Science at Mount Royal University. I am passionate about traditional food plants and food security. I am excited to be apart of the lands committee and to become more involved with
my community and protect our lands for future generation
s to come.

Christy Pahl

My name is Christy Pahl, daughter of Bill and  Wendy Pahl. I have had the opportunity to sit on the Lands Committee since 2016, and so far I have learned a lot of important issues regarding our lands within Metlakatla. The Land Code being passed was a huge step in the right direction. We as a community need to continue to protect and manage our lands by using our own laws.

Fanny Nelson

My traditional name is Semiguual, my English name is Fanny Nelson, I'm one of the Elders in my community of Metlakatla B.C. I'm a mother, grand-mother, great grand-mother. All my life I lived in Metlakatla. I still harvest and prepare my traditional food, which I pass on to all my children and their children. I live off the land. I'm very happy to be part of the Lands Advisory Committee, and also happy to share my knowledge of the land that belongs to our community and where we harvest our traditional foods.

Frank Morven

My name is Frank Morven.  My education background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Thompson Rivers University, a Master's Degree in a Public Administration  from the University of Victoria,
and I am completing  another Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University
. I think it is important to come back and apply some of the things that I have learned to the administration of our lands and that was a driving force for me seeking out a placement on the committee.  I hope we can achieve some great things with our land usage in Metlakatla and I am glad to be part of the process in this capacity as we strive toward that goal.

Wendy Cook

I started my world wanderings in Europe at age two with my parents Des and Patricia Cook. I have seen and worked in many countries and have held many positions including finance, forestry, foreign affairs, and real estate.  Sharing this knowledge with my recently discovered Tsimshian family to enable us to smoothly paddle into the future by enhancing, utilizing and protecting the treasures provided to us by the Creator will make me happy.
