Gathering Strength 2010

Nine canoes will be journeying from Kitkatla to Laxgaltsap.The journey starts on July 24th, 2010. The paddlers will be from the Northwest.
The journey will help connect everyone who is involved to each other, to their community, and to other communities. Our ancestors canoed this route on a regular basis-for trading (goods & food), feasting, etc. The journey will also strengthen our connection with our ancestors...with the old ways...with the waters and nature. Metlakatla invites its members to join us in welcoming the canoes and paddlers to our community.
Our canoe will meet the group in Prince Rupert harbor and will escort them home. Are you interested in being in our canoe? Call Fanny Nelson at (250)-628-3234 ext. 27 and leave your name and number and that you would like to paddle in our canoe.

The ferry will leave Prince Rupert on July 26th 2010 at 5:00pm. A BBQ dinner will be held. Ferries will return to Prince Rupert at 9:00pm. To book a seat on the ferry call Fanny Nelson at (250)-628-3234 ext. 27. Leave a message with your name, number and number of seats needed. Transportation will be FREE-we need people to book so we have an idea of how many ferries we need to use and how much food.
