Please note the Metlakatla Band Office and Departments will be closed on Monday, August 22 for the planned BC Hydro Outage in the village. 

The Metlakatla Governing Council has approved a member distribution for all member registered with the Metlakatla First Nation as of July 15, 2022. The distribution amount for each member is as follows:

- Over the age of 18: $100

- Under the age of 18: $25

Metlakatla residents: Please be advised that there will be a planned BC Hydro outage on August 22nd, 2022, at 9:30am - 5:00 pm.

Deadline for applications is Thursday June 30th, 2022.

Metlakatla has received two (2) International Longshore and Warehouse Union, Local 505 Applications (Port Numbers).  Due to the limited time frame, this round will be chosen through a lottery system. Applicants must be listed on the Metlakatla Band list, and must reside in Prince Rupert, Metlakatla, or Port Edward.  Also, members who are attending Charles Hays Secondary School or Pacific Coast School (current high school aged members) are not eligible.

Please note there will be a membership meetingat 10 a.m. on February 11 to discuss a loan through the First Nations Finance Authority for the purpose of developing flat, serviced lands on the South Kaien lands through the Metlakatla Development Corporation. Click here for more information.

UPDATE X2 - February 7, 2022: Through testing that took place in the community today, the Metlakatla Health Department has identified an additional seven positive cases of COVID-19 in Metlakatla, bringing the total number of active cases to 10. Based on the population of the community, this is a COVID-19 OUTBREAK under the guidelines of the Centre for Disease Control.
